For Vicki, I haven't been online much honey, but my thoughts are with you. (For everyone else, please go to connie for the image) I finished my painting, and it's now up for grabs on EBay, also, I made a dolls outfit. I make these for Pippa/Dawn sized dolls, and as the dolls themselves are only 6 inches tall, it's very fiddly and a long process but I'm usually pretty happy with the results. MY EBAY:
I am still here and visiting folks blogs... one of my favourite pastimes :) Just finishing off a mixed-media painting that I FORCED myself do, because it's good for me. I've become obsessed with painting backgrounds, and sanding them down and doing all manner of distressing to do. It's great fun, problem is I then don't want to paint anything on them to cover them up! I also just put all my ACEO's on Etsy, 'cuz none of them sold on EBay. *Mutters* Will put the painting up here when it's all done. Meanwhile, here's a gratuitous photo of David Tennant who is currently playing 'Hamlet' and by all accounts he's pretty damn good at it. One of the best actors to ever come out of Scotland IMHO. Oh god I'd pay a MILLION QUID to be the actress with his head on her lap. Guh.
Due to total lack of oomph, I had a look on my hard drive, and I do have some images there I quite like. Some are from proper artworks I've done. Others are digital images, and there's also a combination of both. Once I'd printed them out and sealed them they make really nice looking little art cards. So I've put them on EBAY HERE, because I know a couple of people (from the other blog) have said they love them but couldnt afford to buy one. Anyway. They're at a modest start price, if they don't sell on EBay, I'll pop them in my Etsy shop :)
Ok. I am still alive and kicking. Well alive. Well... that's a matter of opinion. I'm back on the meds, and my head is just... urgh. I dried up totally creatively, can't draw, cant paint, can't even take care of myself properly. Thank heavens for the little haven of tranquility that is my art room. There might be the teeniest 'break' before I post any more art :s I finally managed five little faery artcards, and they're now available on EBay. Here:But sheesh. I have a good quality scanner, but I just can't get the smoothness and subtlety of the images onto my pc. It's frustrating to say the least because my auctions and my Etcy shop just aren't doing the actual artwork any justice. Anyone else have these problems?
I've been too ill to do any painting, which is BAD. And I don't like it but there you go. so all I've done is list my existing work in my Etsy shop, and I started doodling some new art cards. Oh I sold my first painting in Etsy!!! Hee. I'm really happy about that, it's this one pictured here. I'm now inspired to do another fairy, maybe an angel, and a mermaid, once my energy levels are back up I'll get back to it. I managed to go OUT to see my doctor. OUT is big and scary and awful, I nearly fainted at the front door so hubby had to drive me there. I don't like OUT... It's too OUT-y. Blech.
I am trying very hard to sort out this blog with links to other peoples blogs, and links to more of my stuff. This site is hard going, I'm used to LiveJournal! Anyone care to comment saying why this site is better than LJ? I have noticed a really nice lot of artistic blogs here, but LJ has that too, plus better comment features, where you get informed of comments, I keep missing them out here! So apologies to new friends, I'm working on it. Oh. Also, I'm going away for a couple of days which is HUGE for me due to my agoraphobia, so I may be late in replying to any comments already made, but I will! Now I have a MUCH better quality image of the Bat Faeries, I've listed them on EBay HERE:
I finished the watercolour on my cards, and put them on EBay :) Also, I managed to actually finish a canvas! More Bat Faeries, because I just really like them. I suck at getting these finished, and I'm pleased with it. It's a bit blurry because it's a tad to big for my scanner bed, and was at a slight angle. The background is loads of layers, collages, acrylics and stencils. The skin is painted in fast-drying oils, and after the figures were done, I deepened the background a bit more with acrylics, and put a few more stencils over the top. this will be on EBay once I've managed to get a non-blurry image of it.

Four cute lil' ole kitty cats up for grabs :) HERE.

Just to prove the point that my drawing is indeed, far better than my painting. Also. When I'm incredibly tired, after a sleepless night, as I am today, I seem to do better work. It's probably because when I'm awake I stress and fret about EVERYTHING and I can't concentrate. (The trials of living with anxiety related illness) So when I'm shattered, I don't care. I just sit and get right into the 'zone'. This has taught me never to go to sleep if I want to make good art. haha.
I'm getting more positive, the more I get into my art! And I'm finding so many gorgeous blogs on this site, it's really inspiring! Also I made my first two art cards, and they're now up for grabs on EBay at a modest start price. HERE :o)
I really fancy the idea of making ACEO (Artist trade cards) and selling them. So I sat and played around with some heavy acrylic paper, stencils, gel medium and paints. It was huge fun! These aren't really finished, I just liked the way they look together. I need to think of something to add to them to make people actually want to buy them. Seeing as I do a lot of fairies, that might be cool, but I also like the idea of abstract images, bright colours, layers and patterns. Phew. Sometimes there really IS too much choice ;)
Phee-ew. I spent all day on this, and I think I'm beginning to discover my 'style' a bit. The background colours are much richer in real life, sadly the scan didn't pick them up too well, and if I tweak it in my art program it just makes the actual faery look too dark. I did the background separately, with collaged newspaper and acrylic paints in layers. Then painted the faery separately and collaged her on as a kind of 'jigsaw puzzle'. Then I added one of my favourite little short poems. Thank heavens for hairspray... did you know you can 'fix' an inkjet print with hairspray? So that it doesn't run when you paint over it? Well you can! Which is fab and groovy, but I'd recommend you test a few prints before you do a major piece, just in case of disaster. That's about it, I might further embellish the background, I like it, but it feels a little unfinished t o me. Hm, I still think I'm better with just a pencil. I love to paint, but my pencil sketches seem more sensitive and fluid. Trouble is I love COLOUR! and lots of it.
Tired. Not much to say, but here's some random samples of my pictures.
Angel done. Here's the lil' devil. (Must do more)
Well I tried drawing boys. And after some practice I did a cheeky lil' angel. I want to do a lil' devil next, cos' boys is cute. I like boys. anyways, it's just a rough sketch, but a start. In my universe, the angels are just a bit wicked, and the devils aren't such bad boys as they're made out to be. Kinda. (I must practice the wings a bit more)
Slightly OT, but yes I did manage to see the Doctor Who finale, and YES I DID LOVE IT. No more David Tennant (Nekkid or otherwise) until Christmas now. *cries*
I bought some handmade and hand decorated papers from EBay and I feel like a kid at Christmas. Lately I'm really enjoying those cute lil' faeries in short dresses and cheeky stockings, so here's a journal page I did today, after being up all night... and I just HAVE to stay awake because it's the season finale of Doctor Who tonight and I am such a sad fangirl I'll watch it if I have to prop my eyes open with matchsticks. *Mutters* ..Um yeah, back to the subject of art, here's a few of those scrummy new papers.
Most of my stuff I post on my LiveJournal blog, but here's a faery. I love doing backgrounds most of all, trouble is the scanner doesn't quite pick up the really nice colours on the paper, or the subtlety :s I'm pretty chuffed with the faery though. I guess I really should start keeping up with this blog! I'll be adding pictures and stuff soon :o)
Yeah, I don't tend to post here much, this is just to keep up with artists and blogs I like here. My "real" blog is on LiveJournal.com http://welshcake-x.livejournal.com/
