I love to craft. Lately I've been making greeting cards and working on scrapbook pages. I also paint on canvas with water colors, acrylics and oils. Not a lot to report. Feeling better every day since my surgery. But I still can't sit long at the comeputer or my craft table because the hunched over position is still a little painful on my incisions. But today my hubs and I celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary and I am so pleased and happy to have such a wonderful man in my life! Wishing you all the best that 2009 can bring, Happy New Year!!! Toodles Peeps! Betty aka ZacksNana
Actually surgery was Dec. 18th and I've been home since late afternoon on the 19th. I am sore but every day is better than the day before. I had my first shower since before surgery last night. It refreshed me! Then I went to bed for a great night's sleep! Today I am home alone, but I think I can do it! Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. Keep them up, they are working! Till 2009, May you all be blessed with a very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years. May God keep you in the palm of his hands. Toodles Peeps! Betty aka ZacksNana YAAAAAAAAAY! Ok so you will not hear anything from me for at least 3 days. Maybe longer depending on how I feel after I get back home on Friday. I should be ready to play again by Monday though, just in time for the MOJO Monday Challenge from Julee.
Have a great week everyone.

Hello! Thanks for stopping by... I had a bad day yesterday, but today was wonderful! I was feeling kind of down from something that happened yesterday. Then this morning a "NEW" friend from a crafting group called me from Canada and we talked for 2+ hours! It was wonderful to hear her voice and to be able to think of something pleasant for a change. We chatted about our families and esp. our grandsons. It was a blessing to me to speak with Dani on the phone. Thank You sweet Dani B-C. Love Ya Chica! Then about an hour later a dear friend from my junior high school days called. I hadn't heard from Jo-Ellen (Jo for short), in years, other than her annual Christmas card. It was wonderful to hear her voice again after so many years. Thanks JO! Love You too! Now on to my card... My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #60 Unfortunately my stamps haven't arrived from MFT. :-( But any day now! :-P So I just went ahead and used an old (no name) stamp to create this card. I love this sweet little mouse. He's stamped using Encore! Ultimate Metallic in Gold. Then I used my water color pencils to give him life and Copic markers in red and orange to color his little bow. My pattern papers are from 3BugsInARug and Collage Press. I used stickles and rubons to enhance my scalloped border. Now I am off to fix some supper. Come back soon and tell all your friends! Helloooo Again... This first image is a painting. The challenge at Scrap Crafts was to create something recycled using cardboard. I just joined the group and I decided I'd give the challenge a whirl! How'd I do??? This piece was from the side panel of a small box. I haven't painted anything in a LONG time so I thought this would be a good opportunity. I used my Thomas Kinkade watercolors to paint the background and the trees first. It's a mixed medium project in that I used my Unity stamp, Santa's Sleigh with Encore! Ultimate Metallic Copper. I colored the sleigh and the reindeer with my Copics. The star is an old piece of jewelry. And I used Stickles for more stars in the night sky and for snow shimmering under my trees. Because I said so... I created this card really, because I wanted to use these new pattern papers from Creative Imaginations. I love these for the holidays. They are just beautiful! The perferations are perfect for stringing ribbons. When I saw the pp I just knew the Prince of Peace stamp from Unity was a perfect match. I found this hat pin in a bag of discarded jewelry my sister, JJ gave me over Thanksgiving. Isn't is beautiful?!!! The two blobs on the right are red garnet rhinestones from an old necklace. The background cardstock is from Chatter Box - artsy.licious. Thanks for looking. Toodles Peeps!
CPS sketch #94, from Card Positioning Systems. I used to do a lot of these. But for a while I must have posted to the wrong place because they weren't showing up in the gallery. Anywho, here ya go! Ok I managed to get this done pretty quick. I had an idea for this type of card a while back. So I just added a sentiment to this. NO, it has never been submitted to any other sketches or challenges. This is it's debut! This is a pocket card/money gift card. The caption on the front reads; A little scratch... Inside reads: ...so you can eat while you attend that place of higher learning. As you can tell I punched a LOT of scalloped circles. Ingredients: Mustard cs Pattern papers - Tinkering Ink - Botanical Bliss Die Cut Art Strips - Voila! by Prima Buttons, ribbons
This weeks Recipe came from Tracy, of the Recipe Design Team Members. Create a card or layout using the following items: Circles Paint Chipboard Here's my card... Oh I think I've been working on this challenge all day! I'm spent! And I had such good intentions to get 3 projects done today. HAHAHAHAHAHAAA! Anyway, I did get this completed. Ingredients: Paint - Thomas Kinkade's - Artists' Water Colors Pattern Paper - Creative Imaginations Chipboard - Li'l Davis Ribbons, Rhinestones and Baubles Circles in paint - I punched a circle and used the negative space to outline my circles. Also used the hole of the cardboard off a roll of ribbon. I may get something else posted later this evening. TFL. Toodles Peeps!

Good evening err... Good morning. I swear it was still night when I started this post. LOL I had a challenge of my own tonight. After an early evening of riding around with my hubs, Michael, looking at Christmas lights I remembered our Jewish friends in Florida I needed to make a Hanukkah card for. So I got to work. I stamped this image three times before I finally got it right. At least I think I got it right. Ha! Hubs loves it! But he's a little biased. :-) The image of the stand of trees is from Sue S. and I love it for ALL seasons. It's just a terrific stamp! The Menorrah is a clip art image as I still have not found a stamp for it nor a dreidel. I embossed the dark blue cs with my Swiss dots Cuttlebug folder. I punched the clip art piece with my square deckle edged punch. I used a navy blue velvet ribbon and some paper flowers from my Canadian friend Dani (Thanks Dani, these were perfect!). The light blue snowflake pp is something I printed from the HP creations website. The inside sentiment reads: Though we believe in different faiths and different miracles, our hope at these December holidays is the same... Joy in our lives, love in our hearts, peace in our world. Have a Happy Hanukkah The sentiment is from AmericanGreetings.com (Create & Print) I wanted to show a close up of this flower. The flower is from Dani but the little jewel is from an old necklace. The picture really doesn't show it off very well. It's a silver ball with little blue rhinestones on it. Also I'd like to share the following with all of you... My friend Dani also sent me a RAK. SEE!!! Sweet, Sweet Dani. THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH! TFL TOODLES PEEPS!
Tami Mayberry designed a great sketch for this week at CPS. No stamps used on this one. Yes the snowflake is a crocheted ornament and it can be removed by releasing the wings of the brad. I hate to say it but I don't know where the ribbons came from. But I'm guessing they came in a kit some time ago. The snowman is a sticker. I left the backing on and popped it up with pop dots. He is from the Melissa Frances Designer Stickers Christmas collection. I love them! This collection has a nostalgic feel and look to them. TFL TOODLES PEEPS! Betty aka ZacksNana
I have a card to share with you today. I created this one for PaperTakeWeekly's Recipe Challenge. This weeks challenge is to use the following on your card: 1 ribbon 2 rectangles and 3 small, round embellishments (zooms, eyelets, brads, buttons, gems etc!) To create my card I used my Cuttlebug and embossing folders for the bottom border and the dotted Swiss as well as my Christmas present postage stamp. I stamped a pine bow on my green cardstock in gold to add some life to the cs. Ingredients: Nestibilities - Rectangles Stamps - freebies from Sue Ink - Encore! Ultimate Metallic - GOLD Cuttlebug Grosgrain Ribbon Eyelets Inside sentiment reads: May the joys of this holiday season fill your life, your home and your world - and remain with you all through the year TFL! Toodles Peeps Betty aka ZacksNana
This card is for Tamara Wheeler's Thursday Sketch #73. All free stuff, excpet for the Grandma's Wallpaper from Hambly. I love, love, love this pp!!! Alas, I think this may be my last project with it, all I have left are small scraps. BUT! I throw nothing away, so it may appear again! :-P I even used a strip of the pp for my ribbon, I sent it through my Cuttlebug in a border embossing folder and Voila! I like the way it turned out. I placed that pp strip on top of a piece of 1 inch wide gold ribbon. Then I topeed that off with a little stamped ornament. I colored my ornaments with my Copic markers. I used both Encore! Ultimate Metallic Gold ink and Stamp-n Stuff Pirate Gold embossing powder on my ornaments and my sentiment. TFL Toodles Peeps! Betty aka ZacksNana Helloooo! I've been wanting to try the tutorial at SCS for some time now. And this My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge presented me with the perfect opportunity. You may have seen it. It's the tutorial on making 2-5-7-10 Box by Jenn Balcer. You will find the project instructions here. I used the pattern paper from a past Scarlet Lime kit. I really liked the idea of a pattern paper, esp. this houndstooth pattern. I thought the red satin ribbons really were a great contrast to the olive green. I do believe this bell stamp is one of my favorites from my friend Sue and that little DNOUC stamp is too cute. It has the feel of a postal mark to me. I colored everything with my watercolor markers. Hope you enjoyed looking... Toodles Peeps! Betty aka ZacksNana |
